ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

My name is Kristen Sluss.  I am the choir director of Home School Singers.  I am so excited to provide a choir opportunity for home school students.  Growing up, participating in choir was one of my favorite things!  Here's a little bit about my musical journey.  Throughout elementary, middle and high school, I benefited from so many amazing music educators; this made choosing a path in college very easy for me. After graduating from Hilliard Davidson High School in 2002, I joined the music department at Ohio Wesleyan University and received my Bachelor’s of Music. Soon after graduating, I began teaching elementary music with the Columbus City School District and did so for 7 years.*  In 2017, I resigned from teaching in the schools to stay home with my children.  In the late summer of 2018, I decided to reach out to the home school community in hopes of finding students interested in participating in a choir. Some amazing families signed up and my journey as a home school choir director began in September of 2018. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting back to teaching choir! What a blessing this opportunity has been for me and my family.  Beyond singing and teaching choir, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Phil, and our 4 children: Silas, Jeremiah, Micah and Naomi.  I also enjoy being out in nature, playing games, hanging out with family and friends, attending Bible study and eating ice cream.
*I have a current Ohio Professional Teaching License
